Galeton December 2016 Weather Report

December 2016 was another very nice month. December 1st is the unofficial start of winter. For the first winter month of the season, it was fairly typical.

December was a cool month, however not overly cold. By mid month the mornings were in the high teens and low twenties. On the 16th it did drop to 3 degrees however, in the suburb of West Pike Mike reported a reading of 1.3 below zero. Pine Creek and the Berger Lake did freeze over for a few days and then warmer days put an end to that. The last week of the month it was a mild period with sunshine and temperatures in the low 40's.

We received 19.7" of snow and 3.84 " of rain and melted precipitation. in 2015 we received 1.3" of snow and 4.39" of precipitation.

For 2016 we received 37.73" of rainfall and melted precipitation. This is 4.56" below the average. This is the 5th straight year with below average rainfall. We received 36.27" of snow which is 18" below the average.

We had 8 days with 1" of snow or more on the ground. We had a white Christmas. We had an average of 1.7" of snow on the ground for the month. We only had 5 foggy mornings. Ice pellets were noted on the 22nd.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
