Jackie Weidner Franklin, 89, of Warren, PA, died Sunday morning, December 25, 2016 at John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA, after an extended illness.
She was born October 15, 1927 in Sheffield, PA. Jackie was the daughter of Henry and Katherine Kujawa Weidner, Sr. She was a longtime Warren area resident and a 1945 graduate of the former Ludlow High School.
Jackie was employed for 49 years with the former G.T.E. Sylvania, retiring from there in 1993.
She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, was an usher and Eucharistic minister. She belonged to the Women of the Warren Moose Lodge 109, Warren Eagles and American Legion Post 135 Ladies Auxiliaries, Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed polka music and dancing, line dancing, playing bingo and trivia at the Moose.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Geri Weidner of Concord Twp., OH., 2 Nieces – Elaine Mace and husband, Brian of Medina, OH., Lori Weidner of Concord Twp., OH., Cousins – Rae Kujawa, Gary Kujawa, Joseph Castagnino, Sharon Amorelli, Anthony Sirianni.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert L. Franklin who died November 26, 2006 whom she married April 1965 in Warren, PA., 1 Sister – Emma Weidner Thompson, 1 Brother – Henry “Hank” Weidner, Jr.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., where a vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA, on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M., with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
