Monday, Jan. 2 Hamilton-Gibson's two-week after school Winter Theatre Arts Camp will open in the Blossburg auditorium on Hannibal Street. The camp will end on Saturday, Jan. 14 with the final public performance.
All third through ninth graders who registered for the camp were accepted and will perform in the production.

"We have 52 talented kids in the Blossburg camp, which made casting decisions very difficult," said Thomas Putnam, artistic director for Hamilton-Gibson Productions. The campers are from the Wellsboro Area and Southern Tioga school districts and private schools. Some are homeschooled.

Those who earned roles were given a "Madagascar Junior" script and CD to take home so they could memorize their lines and songs by the first day of camp.

The main characters are the Zoosters, including Alex, the Lion who will be played by Karson Kennedy; Marty, the zebra, by Aiden Gehman; Gloria, the hippo by Katie Bartlett and Melman, the giraffe by Noah Vickery; King Julien by Justin Gordon; and Skipper by Gabe Guignard. There are many other speaking roles and cast members will also sing and dance.

The campers will give a matinee performance of "Madagascar, Junior" for students during school hours on Friday, Jan. 13 and Pay-What-You-Can performances for the public at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14. The shows will be in the Blossburg auditorium.

This camp is sponsored by Susquehanna Health.
