Railroad Museum chief switches gears, takes reins at Hershey auto museum

Jeffrey E. Bliemeister believes much of human history can be told through the means by which people moved around.

“Transportation involves people,” he explains. “They rely on it. They take it to heart. People have car stories, bus stories. Why did they take a plane, or a train?

“It’s fascinating to me — I’ve been that way since I was a teenager.”

Bliemeister, who for the past two years has been site administrator of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, has taken the reins as executive director of the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey.

It’s not a drastic shift for Bliemeister, who has worked for many years in museums focused on transportation and industry. It’s also a homecoming for him — he helped to establish the AACA Museum in 2003 and worked until 2011 as its curator.

He assumed his new role at the auto museum on Dec. 12.

He previously held leadership roles at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Potter County, Renfrew Museum & Park in Waynesboro, Hyde Hall in Springfield, New York, and National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, New York. Read more....
