Okay friends...
We have a family in emergency need of a lot.

There is six kids and two adults. This is a barn boys older kids, they had a house fire yesterday. Everything is gone..

One blessing, a fireman acted and found a two bedroom apt for them immediately, and paid first month's rent. Immediate needs are as follows and then clothes are listed below. Two or three air mattresses (they are now using love seat cushions on the floor), food, a microwave, coffee pot, and just about any household goods, pots and pans, plates, dishes, etc.. The fireman were able to throw some clothes out the window, but not much. They are taking a trip up Thursday to deliver some immediate items. Then hopefully we can collect more as the weeks come.

We thank you

Please get in touch with me or James R Quinn

Also needed is six book bags..they tried scrubbing theirs today but smell and black wouldn't come off

Where can people send money?

Anonymous said...

I wish people would add a mail address for those of us who still don't use the internet to send money. I know it is the old way but I'm still partially still there. Thank you.

I wonder if Goodwill does donations?? That would be the place to get all the clothes they need!!

BEWARE: This information is not correct. I'm not sure who the source is, but the facts mentioned are incorrect to the point that it concerns me that these funds being donated may not make it to the family members in need. Please follow the link below for the proper Go Fund Me Account to be sure the funds go where they are intended. https://www.gofundme.com/quinnbliss-family-assistance-fund

You know who James is! The four oldest kids are his!
The other name, John & Bunny, they are part of a local ministry and family friends, that has helped, since the moment they found out, to collect and prepare things to come up.
The sizes and information is directly from Faith (the oldest daughter).
Your comment is nasty and unwarranted! There are enough issues without you, or anyone else creating more.

Any time a collection is made there can be issues about accountability and responsibility. That's why charities are licensed and there are rules to assure that people who are generous enough to donate are directing scarce resources to the areas where they are most needed. GoFundMe is a profit making website and there is no accountability when it comes to establishing a GoFundMe account. The GoFundMe business has profited very handsomely by hiding itself behind worthy causes and hacking off a portion of every dollar that is donated for themselves.

That's why I do NOT donate gofundme....when I help someone out finacially I want them to get the full amount. No one needs to be taking their percent out first.......

Didn't this family have Homeowners Insurance ? .......
Who is behind this Gofundme accounts that's raking in the percentage ? I'm sorry this family is going through this...I've been through this and never asked people to fund us, we had a 8 month old baby. Red Cross helped us a lot...I don't think anyone is being cruel, I just think the blogger was making a point, the last gofundme we were invovled in, the money was not used for what it was to be used for...I'll give directly to the people in need, no more Gofundme's for us..

Andy Kulp of Roulette should be able to help with new bookbags and supplies for school. To Fill A Backpack is the org to contact.

Gofundme's are being abused and people are finding out a lot of the money is not going where it needs to go so people want a address to the family that needs the money......Gofundme's also take a percentage......

Ya'll might want to slow your rolls until all the news is out on this one.

Because some people are skeptical of
"GOFUNDMES" ????????

Something is rotten in Denmark, I mean Galeton. Maybe the co-workers of the places where the three or four adults are employed could kick in, or maybe their employers could help. Does it say anywhere where the parents and boyfriends or girlfriends work? There is also the Red Cross, Yellow Ribbon Red Hatters or whatever they are, and Good Will and the churches and Christmas House and Andy Kulp's Back Pack Brigade and other helpers. Better than just forking out cash un-knowingly. Maybe classmates from their high school or college graduating classes could help. Galeton is dumping $100,000 into studying the dumb lake there. Why not put that to better use than making some consultanant rich?

Red Cross really helped our family after our fire. They even gave us a coupon for a percentage off goodwill along with a card with some monetary amount on it. Along with blankets and essentials. Sorry for your loss

The red Cross helped us through our loss from a fire

They did the same for us, very good to us, and Goodwill was very good to us, they have very nice items at Goodwill....

There are 2 parents and 6 kids! Occupations are irrelevant and all the kids are still in school. The school and many members of the community are helping out but it is going to take a lot more to get them back on their feet! As for the lake, not that this is the immediate issue, if we save it or rip it out it will be costly! We as a community have pulled together to help as much as we can. They lost everything!!!

When u find out, could you please share?

We lost everything in our fire too & we came back on our own......we struggled but we survived, as said Red Cross helped a lot, Goodwill helped also, we were thankful & greatly appreciated for them helping us....it didn't matter if it was used or not....we never heard of these gofundmes...we survived....

Amen 8:15, we never heard of gofundmes either when we went through a hose fire, what we didn't lose, neighbors stole, we couldn't stay at our house of course, no electric, no gas, but we survived, God bless the Red Cross for helping us too......

It's a SHAME that everyone is bickering over this. I treat this FAMILY AS MY OWN like LISA IS MY DAUGHTER AND HER KIDS AS MY GRANDBABIES. YES, they had a fire. All that matters is they are in need because it was a total loss. They are in need of beds mattresses, etc. Apparently the person that is putting Gasleton down, doesn't care that a FAMILY IS IN NEED. IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE TOWN DO IT ELSEWHERE. THE GOFUND ACCOUNT IS BEING HANDLED BY A FAMILY MEMBER.

Paula Hayes said...

I can't believe what i am reading! Why is everyone bickering over things that really don't matter in the big picture. The facts are: there is a family of 8 who lost everything. They are in need! They are appreciate of all items that have been donated and are thankful to be wearing clothing and using items that people have donated. There is a drop off at 33 West Main Street in Galeton between Heart's Desire and the DayCare next door. Any monetary donations or gift cards can be sent to the The Quinn/Bliss family at 33 West Main Street, Galeton PA 16922. If you are comfortable using a "gofundme" account, Susan Widnikiewicz posted a link to one that the mother has total access to. You may not agree with people asking for help, online fund accounts and the like and that is fine. People mentioned Goodwill - i happily donate to those organizations but am fully aware that they ALSO charge for the items to the general public. It's how they make money and it's how others make money as well. Don't persecute the family over it over opinions. If you don't want to donate or are unable, say a prayer for this family instead of commenting with nastiness and contempt.
