Performances of the musical "Madagascar Junior" for the public will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 and 14 in the Blossburg auditorium located next door to the Blossburg Elementary School on Hannibal Street.

Fifty-two third through ninth graders who live in the Southern Tioga and Wellsboro Area school districts are learning about theater arts as they prepare for the show during Hamilton-Gibson's Winter Theatre Arts Camp being held after school on weekdays now through Jan. 12 as well as from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Jan. 7 in the auditorium.

About half of the students have speaking parts in the production and others are involved in the show's ensembles. They are being taught choreography, how to project their voices when speaking and singing and how to create a character - all while having fun. Among the show's many songs are "I Like to Move It," "Best Friends" and "Together Forever."

In addition to the two public performances, the campers will do the show twice for students on Friday, Jan. 13, once that morning and again that afternoon in the auditorium.

Join the four crack-a-lackn' friends on this set-in-the-wild musical adventure as Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo escape from their home in New York's Central Park Zoo and go on an unexpected journey to the beaches of Madagascar and the madcap world of King Julien.

Tickets for the Friday and Saturday performances are pay-what-you-can. For tickets or more information, call 570-724-2079 or email
