The College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Extension of Potter County seeks to hire a part-time Administrative Assistant.


The Administrative Assistant will assist the Extension Educators and District Director in managing county Extension programs. Individual must have the ability to work as part of the Extension team as well as to work independently and have the ability to follow procedures as determined by Penn State Extension. Must complete training on the use of Penn State Extension computer procedures and other established office procedures. 

Duties Include: Schedule appointments, meetings, programs and assist in coordination of the volunteers. Manage the ordering and distribution of all PSU test kits and results as determined. Develop and manage news releases for Penn State Extensions programs. 

Work with educators to provide program advertisements and follow-up news releases. Attend all Penn State Extension professional development classes and optional classes in person or on-line as required or requested. Willingness to travel to trainings and meetings. 

Effectively use word-processing, database, graphic/presentation and spreadsheet software application/programs in course of assigned duties. Maintain educational resource and publication files, order publications as necessary. Maintain program files and databases as assigned. Assist with off-site workshops, classes, or special events. 

Assist Educators in maintaining and filing documents and reports for grant programs. Work with all clientele in a courteous and friendly manner. Respond to telephone or written inquires within appropriate time limits. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. 

Qualification Requirements: Advanced English Skills. Excellent grammar and proofreading skills. Advanced computer skills- QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and other Microsoft programs. Proficient in the use of internet searches, file formats, document retrieval, and e-mail. Excellent phone skills. High School graduate or GED. Additional business school training is preferred.
