First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 4-16-17

by Martha Pennell,

At First Presbyterian church during worship April 23rd is “Sunday of Music” program featuring Inez Lush at the piano and Lois Decius, violinist. A dish to pass meal follows the service (ham and cake provided). All are welcome to attend!

Shared Ministry committee meeting will be held April 25th, at 7 pm at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church. Election of officers is planned.

Galeton food pantry opens at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church Friday, April 28th, at 10 am.

Acts 10: 34-43 was the basis of Pastor Tom’s sermon.

God was with Jesus as he went about doing good and healing, then he was killed, but God raised him up on the third day and showed him to chosen witnesses. He commanded them to preach that whoever believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins).

Pastor Tom told us God has several messages Easter morning:

1) Do not be afraid when he appears to someone, it is basic security.

2) Come and see! Be alert and aware to what is happening. Look at the evidence of resurrection. Life has changed with new starts and new beginnings. Christ’s risen body is real and can be touched—touching every person.

3) Go and make disciples! Share what you have and give what you have to give. New life is possible; put into practice what he commanded. Christ inhabits us through the Holy Spirit. Pass it to the next generation.

All through time, Jesus remains the same! From the first stanza of “Christ is Alive, Let Christians Sing”! (Brian Wren, 1969): “Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. The cross stands empty to the sky. Let streets and homes with praises ring.

Love drowned in death shall never die.”
