Election Day Is Here; Polls Remain Open Until 8 PM

Potter County Today

May 16th, 2017

It’s Election Day in Potter County. Voting by registered Republicans and Democrats continuing until 8 pm will determine the nominees for many influential positions being filled in this year’s elections.

Successful candidates’ names will appear on the Nov. 7 Municipal General Election ballot.

To help registered Democrats and Republicans to prepare before they head out to vote, Potter County Director of Elections Sandy Lewis has posted sample ballots for all voting districts on the county website, pottercountypa.net (click on Elections/Voter Registration). Some of the unofficial results from today’s vote will be posted on the county’s daily news site, Potter County Today (today.pottercountypa.net).

Many township and borough positions will be filled this year — including borough council member, township supervisor and municipal tax collector — as will seats on every school board in the region. Two countywide positions are on the ballot. The incumbents, District Attorney Andy Watson and Coroner Kevin Dusenbury, are both unopposed in seeking another four-year term.

All three magisterial district judge positions are being filled for six-year terms.

In the Coudersport District, candidates are incumbent Annette Easton and Brenda Daisley Whitman.

Incumbent Kari McCleaft is unopposed in the Shinglehouse District.

Incumbent Delores Weiss (Galeton/Ulysses District) is retiring at year’s end. Running to succeed her are Chris Kalacinski and Michael Murray.
