Tyler Hoops Honored on D3baseball.com Team of the Week

By Scott Elliott
BRADFORD, Pa. - Pitt-Bradford shortstop Tyler Hoops was honored on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week Tuesday.

Hoops, who was also named the AMCC Player of the Week Monday, led the Panthers to a 3-1 record last week and played a big role in the team’s AMCC tournament opening-round series win over Penn State Altoona.

The Mendham, New Jersey, native hit .533 with four extra base hits, including a pair of homers, nine RBIs and 11 runs. He slugged 1.133 for the week and had a 6/3 walk-to-strikeout ratio, upping his league-leading walk total to 35.

In a 5-0 victory over Medaille, Hoops accounted for three of the team's five runs, helping the Panthers secure a postseason berth in the final game of the regular season.

He connected for his first career home run, a two-run shot, in Pitt-Bradford’s 18-3 win over Penn State Altoona Sunday and followed it up with a three-run blast in game two against the Lions. Pitt-Bradford was edged 12-8 in game two but blanked Penn State Altoona, 10-0, Monday to capture the series, 2-1.

Hoops and the Panthers square off with top-seeded La Roche Thursday in Pittsburgh at 4 p.m. in the conference championship round.
