American Legion Post 530 Recognizes New Recruits

Left to Right: Bill Chatham (Post 530 Adjutant), Dalton Ford (Marine Recruit), Wanda West (Legion Auxiliary), Tina Mesler (Auxiliary President), Mike Mesler (Sons Adjutant), and Adam Ferguson (Army Recruit)

By Monica Thomas

The Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 opened its monthly meeting recognizing Flag Day, reflecting on the fortune we all experience under the American Flag.

The Shinglehouse American Legion Family at Post #530: The American Legion, Sons of the Legion, and the Legion Auxiliary recognized two recent Oswayo Valley graduates who enlisted in the military and are scheduled to attend Boot Camp in August. Dalton Ford and Adam Ferguson decided months ago to serve their country. Dalton enlisted in the Marine Corps and Adam enlisted in the Army. T

he Post 530 Commander praised the two young men for their courage and choice to serve their country and extended them an invitation to return someday to share their stories. Both recruits were presented with a Commemorative K-Bar Knife, Ontario Survival Knife, a Legion hat, and $1,000 so their families can attend their Boot Camp graduation ceremonies.

The Shinglehouse Legion Family was thrilled and honored to host the recruits and wish them well.
