The Coudersport Area Soccer Association (CASA) donated an outdoor gas stovetop burner to Under Anthony’s Wings earlier this week, to assist the startup of the new non-profit organization. CASA is a non-profit association which provides soccer training and competition opportunities to the area’s youth, and selected Under Anthony’s Wings because of its equally balanced focus on the area’s children. “We hope that the burner will assist Under Anthony’s Wings in its community events and fundraising activities for those children that may never even get a chance to play soccer”, according to Rebecca Rossman, President of CASA.

Under Anthony’s Wings was started by Wynn-Scott and Hazel Duell after their adult son passed unexpectedly. It was formed to raise awareness and provide assistance to families with children with unexpected illnesses or tramatic injuries through financial and emotional support. The organization’s goal is to provide healthy community activities and events for children as a means to raise funds, which will then be allocated to families with children experiencing difficulties through providing those families with assistance such as gas cards, supplemental medical supplies and money for food or hotel stays while receiving medical treatment. To date, Under Anthony’s Wings has also provided a medical squeeze vest and weighted blankets for families with children in need of such supplies but limited in resources to purchase them without assistance.

In spirit with its focus on the children, Under Anthony’s Wings also has junior (youth) officers which are planning a funfair at the school in 2018 to raise funds for the organization. “The junior officers help with delivery of items to the children in need, and also give insight and ideas to the organization through the eyes of a child,” according to Hazel Duell, co-founder.

The organization has applied for 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit status, and all proceeds go into the program itself, without compensation to its board members or volunteers.
