City of Bradford Police Make Arrest in domestic disturbance / hostage situation / barricaded gunman at 16 Brennan Street

On 06/30/2017, at 0135 hrs., officers responded to a third party report of a domestic disturbance / hostage situation / barricaded gunman at 16 Brennan Street. On arrival officers secured the area and attempted to make contact with the suspect and/or the victim, neither of which would respond to the door of the residence.

The situation was resolved peacefully at 0146 hrs. when the victim was able to leave the residence. Subsequently, the suspect Joseph Montecalvo, 29 years old, exited the residence without incident at 0156 hrs.

On completion of the investigation, Joseph Montecalvo was charged with Strangulation (Felony-2), Terroristic Threats (Misdemeanor-1), 2 counts of Simple Assault (Misdemeanor-2), Unlawful Restraint (Misdemeanor-1) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor). He was then arraigned on these charges before Judge Cercone. Bail was set at $30,000 percentage.

The City of Bradford Police were assisted with this incident by Bradford Township Police, Foster Township Police, UPB Police and the McKean County 911 Center.
