SO who is the idiot that ran the fire alarm nine times for this? With the age of cell phones why do we even need an alarm bothering people. Then to top it off at nine times. when does this become noise pollution? Do they understand some people have children trying to sleep. There should be serious consideration as to when that alarm is being used. Ever hear of the sheep that cried wolf... that is what will happen if better consideration is not given to the times the alarm is being used.

Poster 12:27 ur an idiot they ring it 3 times and if they don't get enough responders they ring it again then they needed more for help with the landing zone. And besides it's not the local dept.ringing it its 911 dispatch.

If it bothers you that much,, maybe you should move your whiny ass to Siberia... I hear there's no fire alarms there!

The alarm continues to sound until units respond. The purpose of the audible alarm alerts not only emergency responders but the community as well. The community needs to know to watch out for emergency vehicles as they respond. The alarm is set off from Wellsboro at the 911 center. The real question should be why it had to go off several times. Answer-Lack of volunteers. Why is there a lack of volunteers? Ask yourself, and ask the fire department. The answer has numerous facets. Lack of interest, lack of commitment, division of membership, could be any number of reasons. There arent enough hours in the day for people to volunteer. The requirements to join, the requirements of your time and dedication, the personal costs to family, and the list could go on. If the whistle blows 9 times, join to help. There are people who belonged who are no longer there. Ask why.

You say that until it's your child for whom the alarm is going off. Then it can run all night long!

That first comment is a doozy. I will admit the person asks a legitiment question and the answers came right away so some of you maybe learned a lot reading this. Sir you don't appear to have much appreciation for your volunteer emergency responders. Its borderline hanus to publicly criticize them on here when there are other ways you can get your questions answered. I am not going to fight fire by calling you a dildine or some other name but you should think about the people who go out any time 24/7 to protect us before you go public like this with comments designed to find fault with them. I pray for God's mercy on the victim of this crash and on our community. May He bring healing and watch over our emergency responders.

12:27 AM--Perhaps you should contact 911 and let them know in case of an emergency at your house, they should call a few friends on the phone to respond rather than using the siren.

How come Port A doesnt have or need a whistle? The only time i hear that one is during tornado warnings.

Dear Anonymous 12:27, are you freaking kidding me? This girl, someones child, was trapped for over an hour waiting for help...and had to be life flighted. And you're worried that YOUR child might be woke up from their comfortable bed?? Do you even have a clue how lucky we are to have a volunteer Fire and Ambulance Dept.?? I will pray that your child(no matter their age), or you for that matter never needs their services. And if you ever do, I bet you'll be glad that they ring that alarm if extra help is needed. By the way, you're really brave posting as anonymous!!! God Bless all of our emergency responders and thank you for your service!!!

Listen here anonymous 12:27 I GUARENTEE if it was one of your precious children trapped in the ATV you would want an alarm sounded for rescue no matter what time, no matter how loud, and no matter how frequent just to alert the rescuers. The situation could always be worse and you need to be more considerate of another human being's life. Someone could have lost a loved one in this accident so therefore your child being woken from a sleep is far less significant than an alarm being sounded for EMERGENCY LIFE OR DEATH RESCUE !!!

RIGHT_ON!! 12:27 I don't blame you.. In this day and age sirens are like natives beating drums, no excuse for it in 2017.

Ok 2:38 until it happens to one of your family members you'll want all the help that you can get. Right

God bless the VOLUNTEERS we do have on our community. I'm completely baffled that someone would even consider complaining about how many times a siren ia rung. Someone needed help, a call for help was sent. These respond team members have a life and families of there own..tho many are extremely dedicated to their service everyone needs a break and can't be immediately to the hall when the first bell rings. Crying wolf for an emergency of this nature is absurd.. it's not the local ATM acting up. Before bashing a volunteer respond team just remember it my same day be yourself, family or friend they are in need of their help. Prayers to the victim of the accident.
