I find it extremely interesting we go to war with Afghanistan. The first thing we do is raid takeover their poppy fields. The next few years doctors are pushing oxycontin down everyone's throats for minor aches and pains. They wander why we are at the crisis point we are at today.

Something that grabs me-aren't hypodermic devices highly regulated--
must be one helluva blackmarket business in them too

5:37 unfortunately I work with a bunch of drug addicts so I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about the subject. Heroin doesn't always mean an injection, they take it other ways that don't involve needles. They also get prescription pills and keep running to the Dr with a sob story to get more pills. Or else they pretend they want to get clean and go get a prescription for suboxone and start abusing that and trading it with their friends.

I want to know why it's all of the sudden a crisis, it's been going on for 20 yrs. And now someone wants to make a big deal out of it. These people know they will likely die doing these drugs so let them die and quit wasting my tax money, if thier all dead problem solved!

Wow 9:46 PM, you really oughta be careful what you say, be thankful it's not one of your children, or grandchild, instead of judging or condemning, how about a prayer for them, someday you might be wishing some one will be lifting your child up in prayer

Right on 9:46, but you had a grammar error and should've said "if they're all dead" instead of "if their all dead".

I like the war comment NOT ! Drug use is a choice . And by the way the great obama and his merry band of libtards said drug use and drug dealing is harmless ! Doesn't our liberal gov share his views ?

A couple years back I kept a mental note of the top 10 dumbest comments on here but that list is into the hundreds now and my feeble mind cannot catalog them any more. 10:34 would have made the list for sure. Suggestions that the former President said "drug dealing is harmless" are totally over the top in cluelessness. Please provide a reference for that, 10:34. And then review the various initiatives that the Obama administration spearheaded to beef up law enforcement, track down the Mexican drug cartels trafficking narcotics onto the streets of America, expanding treatment to help victims overcome their disease (and I assume you have at least advanced past 1955 to recognize that it's not right to "blame the victim" when it comes to cancer, Alzheimer's disease, drug addiction, diabetes and other diseases), and more. Also, please dust off your Harvard diploma or Johns Hopkins sheepskin to define "merry band of libtards." The only reference I find to a "merry band" comes from the Robin Hood fictional character. The word libtard is not in any dictionary I can find. It might, just might, suggest that you are not very objective or interested in weighing alternative viewpoints to properly exercise your citizenship responsibly. You might expand your knowledge by adjusting your reading habits to include literature that does not necessarily reinforce your biases. Put up or shut up (I am pretty sure you're not capable of doing either but we shall see). Your move, big guy.

Funny. I don't see any overdoses or deaths caused by marijuana........wonder why

Anonymous said...

Because some of the people that enjoy weed so much moved on to harder drugs, such as heroin, and died.

A watched a documentary on how the government started a campaign to lead the population to believe that marijuana would lead people to use bigger more dangerous drugs. That isn't a true statement. It doesn't work that way, there are some people that will use anything that is available. But marijuana in its self isn't any more responsible than cigarettes would be do your research

10:34 made my "feeble mind list" also.

They( THC intoxicationnumbers) are under dui crashes and cigarette use is responsible for thousands of deaths each year...... good try though Helen

I chose to speed in my car. I chose to jump out of the tree .I chose to use drugs. I knew all three were dangerous. I knew all three could harm me. Of the 3 only 2 were my fault because you say it it a disease?? Why don't I have a driving disorder or height impairment syndrome? REALIZE DRUG USE AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE A CHOICE!!!

At some point, drug use is no longer a choice. These addicts need psychological help. When they decide to take in some heroin, they are doing it for a physical fix, because the withdrawal is too bad to handle. I really don't believe they're thinking about how much they'll need the next time or that it may be laced with something that will kill them instantly. I wonder if even half of you commenting have ever had an addiction or know someone that has. Ask someone who's been there?

Totally agree 10:19, many judge & condemn that have never walked in their shoes or have never experienced what they go through, most of them are choices, my niece OD but not by her choice, crushed up drugs are put in innocent young people's food & drinks unbeknown to them, one way of getting them hooked, they need to go after Pharmaceuticals as well as Dr's!
