It's about time. Just do away with the pension plan and let employees save their own money in a 401K type set-up. It's time for the free ride to come to an end. State employees have excellent benefits and make more money than most people. Taxes are way too high and there is too much waste.

This was a feckless action that chickened out and kicked the can down the road.

Get educated before you spout off stupid stuff. State employees already contribute to their pensions. The state puts a tiny portion in to it. Besides any part of the pension that the state does put in was negotiated in lieu of wages earned. That means that the state negotiated with workers to put 3 cents in to the pension plan instead of giving it to the employee in their paycheck. This is just another way to fu*k working people out of what they negotiated and worked for. 401K's are a joke. They take your money, put it in the stock market and lose it for you. Have you forgotten the crash back in 2007-2008 where everybody lost their 401K money so they had to keep working? Well the same crooked foxes are in charge of chicken coup again. Better bury your money in the back yard than put it in a 401K.

State employees making big money is a myth. If it wasn't for the benefits, no one would want to work there.

Does this affect teachers pensions too, it should.

THIS plan will definitely work!

The state should contract out as many jobs as possible. Then this problem would be out of their hands. The efficiency would be much greater and the quality of work would improve. Bottom line is that the unions cause all these problems and now their greed is coming around to bite them.

No one working for the state pays their own health insurance.

State retirees get very good health insurance at minimal cost, and I believe the state pays for their Pat B Medicare premium. Not too shabby.
