Baker Reminds Women of Free Mammograms through State’s HealthyWoman Program

HARRISBURG – Free clinical breast exams, mammograms and follow-up exams for qualifying women are available through the state’s HealthyWoman Program, announced Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter).

“No woman should forgo basic health exams because of income or lack of insurance,” said Baker, chairman of the House Health Committee. “The HealthyWoman Program was designed to ensure every woman has access to these critical exams. I encourage women who qualify for the program to make an appointment.”

The HealthyWoman Program provides services to women between the ages of 40 and 64 who do not have health insurance, have limited health insurance or have a gross family household income at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.

“When breast cancer is found at its earliest stages, the five-year survival rate is reported to be more than 98 percent,” said Baker. “Simply put, early detection saves lives, so don’t wait to get your exam.”

To learn more about the HealthyWoman Program, visit Baker’s website at or call 1-800-215-7494.

Women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer may receive free treatment through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment program. For more information about this program, contact the PA Breast Cancer Coalition at or call1-800-377-8828.
