Cherry Springs State Park Weekend Programs

COUDERSPORT—Cherry Springs State Park at 4639 Cherry Springs Road, Coudersport is 12 miles from Galeton via West Branch Road and 15 miles from Coudersport via Route 44.

All visitors who plan to view the night skies are asked to arrive at the park before dark. People may observe on their own and do not have to attend a stargazing program. If it rains, thunders or is cloudy, all programs will be cancelled.

Night Sky Tour: The Heart of the Scorpion
From 9:30 to 10:15 p.m. this Friday, July 14 or Saturday, July 15 in the Night Sky Viewing Area, observe the summer constellations, including Scorpius and its bright heart Antares and see where the planets Jupiter and Saturn lie amidst a sea of stars during a laser-guided tour as park staff recount the legends and myths about them. This 45-minute program is free. Telescopes will be available for a closer look at these celestial objects. Pre-registration is required.

Solar Viewing
This Saturday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m., take a peek through the park’s specially filtered telescopes to view the features of our nearest star, the Sun and find out how they impact planet Earth during this free one-hour program. Registration is not required.
