Dickinson Center Inc. Run/Walk for Wellness Set for July 22

RIDGWAY— Dickinson Center Inc. will hold its Seventh Annual Run/Walk Saturday, July 22 at the Clarion-Little Toby Rail Trail.

The race is an unofficial 5K that winds through the rolling hills of the trail and roads along the Ridgway Borough that will benefit Dickinson’s wellness efforts. The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the trailhead and conclude in the same spot. Registration will begin at 7:45.

The top three finishers in each running and walking category will receive medals. Those interested in participating can register online at www.dickinsoncenter.org. Cost is $20.

In addition to the proceeds assisting Dickinson Center’s wellness committee, the event also promotes the benefits of exercise as it relates to mental health and overall well-being. Exercise has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to improve mental health and cognitive functions. It also relieves stress, improves memory and sleep as well as boosts overall mood.

Dickinson Center, Inc., a member of Journey Health System, is a 501(c) 3 organization providing behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and children's prevention services in rural Northwestern Pa. DCI is recognized as one of the leading rural behavioral health providers in Northwestern Pennsylvania, and has evolved into an organization with nearly 200 employees operating in Elk, Cameron, Potter, McKean, Forest, Warren, Jefferson, and Clearfield counties.
