Franklinville students receive CRCF scholarships

OLEAN, N.Y., July 25, 2017 – Four Franklinville Central School/Ten Broeck Academy graduates recently received scholarships managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Maria Frascella and Carolyn Wright received the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Scholarship.

The board of realtors partnered with CRCF this year to provide two $500 scholarships each to students in good academic standing in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. Preference is given to students pursuing a business-related degree.

Wright will study agricultural business at Alfred State College. Frascella will study cybersecurity at Alfred State College.

Frascella also received the inaugural Patricia “Ann” Heister English/Journalism Memorial Scholarship.

Donald Pfeiffer
Connie Race established the scholarship in memory of her friend and long-time Franklinville English teacher Patricia Heister. The $1,000 scholarship is for graduating a Franklinville student who is attending a four-year institution and majoring in English, journalism or related field or is given a strong recommendation from his or her high school English teacher.

Donald Pfeiffer received the Kothari Family Fund Health Care Scholarship.

The Kothari Fund Health Care Scholarship is a $500 scholarship given to a graduating senior pursuing a health care-related field of study. Drs. Ashok and Yogini Kothari established the scholarship as part of the Kothari Family Endowed Fund.

Pfeiffer will study biology/pre-med at the University at Buffalo.

Katherine Frascella received the Pat McGee Nursing Scholarship.

The $500 scholarship is given to traditional and non-traditional students from the 57th State Senate District, which includes much of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, who are pursuing nursing degrees. Established through the Pat McGee Endowment Fund, the scholarship memorializes the 57th district’s late state senator.

Frascella will attend Alfred State College to pursue a nursing degree.
