Galeton Weather Report for July 2017

July 2017 was another beautiful summer month. Several places in Pennsylvania would dispute that remark. The month started out sunny, cool and beautiful, Off and on throughout the month we had some very cool mornings in the mid 40's and low 50's. Great sleeping weather. Mid month it turned warm and quite humid then sunny and beautiful for an entire week.

It was a very dry month up until the 24th and 25th. Until that date we received only 1.04" of rain. Well below normal, then we had a rainy 23rd during the day and then that evening and night we had a series of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. By the morning of the 24th we had received 2.74". Several locations in Bradford and Lycoming counties received nearly 6" with flooding. We were once again very fortunate. On the 28th a very unusual low pressure for this time of year, came up the Ohio River Valley and deposited a substantial amount of rain throughout the southern portion of the state.

Total rainfall for the month was 3.83" Last year we received 1.67". Average rainfall for July is 4.15" Average temperatures for July are high of 77 degrees and low of 55 degrees.

We had 15 foggy mornings and experienced 5 thunderstorms. One storm lasted almost all night.

Pine Creek got back to normal for a day or two and now it is again quite low.
