Free programs and activities are being offered at Hills Creek state park this weekend

WELLSBORO—Hills Creek State Park at 111 Spillway Road is seven miles northeast of Wellsboro in Charleston Township via Charleston Street and Hills Creek Lake Road. Most programs will be in the park's Nature Center area located in the campground between B and C loop.

Bald Eagle –America’s Bird
On Friday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the park’s Nature Center, find out about the size, power and grace of America’s symbol as well as its biology and recovery efforts in Pennsylvania during this free one-hour program.

Bats on the Brink
As darkness falls at 9 p.m. at the Nature Center this Saturday, July 15, learn about the many benefits of bats, the very real threat they face today, and what you can do to help. At the conclusion of this one-hour free program, watch the park bats emerge for their evening meal of mosquitoes and other insects.

Canoe Tour
Explore the wildlife of Hills Creek Lake via canoe while learning about their history and management during a free two-hour canoe tour from 6-8 p.m. this Sunday, July 16. Be at the Hills Creek Lake beach area at 5:30 p.m. All equipment will be provided but canoes will be first come, first served. Participants should be physically able to paddle a canoe over flat water for short distances. Those who wish can use their own canoes. Pre-registration is required. To participate, pre-register at the park office in person or call 570-724-4246 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Talk to the Animals
Discover how animals “talk” by using sight, scent and sound. Many examples will be demonstrated for species found in this area during the free one-hour program at 9 p.m. this Sunday, July 16 in the park’s Nature Center area.

Information about Hills Creek programs is available online at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov/hills_creek_state_park/calendar. Have questions? Call the park office at 570-724-4246.

They are here. The people who deny their existence in the Commonwealth are either clueless or a liar.

Any proof? Nope you need to guess again, or learn how to identify animals. with all the trail cameras its funny no one has a picture. Their are no mountain lions in pa

I know what I saw. Guess they didn't have the camera in the right location.

2:25 - It was an amazing experience. He was about waist high, walking through the ferns. Golden tan with that long tail. He was beautiful. Most amazing encounter ever.
