Oswayo Valley Memorial Library News

The Children’s Summer Reading Club will be meeting each Wednesday afternoon in July from 1-2:30. The theme this year is “Build a Better World.”

Penn State Extension Summer Library Program: Join us for a 3 week program! The project this year is Around the World. Youth will explore the arts and cultures of countries around the world. Countries we will be visiting are Australia, Africa, and Japan. Program is open to ALL youth ages 7-16 and is free. The program will begin Tuesday afternoon, July 11th from 2-3:30 p.m. If interested in attending, please register with the Extension Office at 814-274-8540, email adb8@psu.edu or stop by the library to register.

Artmobile: The St. Bonaventure ArtMobile will be at the library on Friday, July 21st, at 10:00 a.m. This summer we will be: Discovering Alexander Calder, making world mobiles, learning new languages, exploring the continents, and much more! All children are invited. Please call or stop by the library to register.

WWI Program: Tuesday, August 8th, at 6:00 p.m. David Castano will be presenting a program about World War II and its impact on the Oswayo Valley area.

Children’s Hiking Activities: Coming August 10th at 10:30 am: Appalachian Trail program/activities for children! Come visit with “Blissful” who has hiked the famous Appalachian Trail twice and in each direction! From bears to snakes, plants, trees, cool views, and funny hiking pictures, we will explore the trail from Georgia to Maine! Find out how Blissful cooked on the trail using a tiny stove and pot. Snuggle in a mummy bag in the woods. Create your own “trail name” through drawing and words to earn a carabiner to hook on your day pack or belt loop!

● Stitch Together Knit and Crochet Group: every Thursday afternoon 1-3
● Oswayo Valley Historical Society open for research: every Friday afternoon 1-4
● Book discussion: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 1-3:30 p.m.
● Writer’s Guild: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:30 p.m.

It is still not too late to support the library through last year’s letter drive!
