Potter County Fair Queen Contestants

There are two young ladies participating the Potter County Fair Queen Contest. They are Destiny Green and Karina West. Megan Klesa, the current fair queen, will crown her successor on Thursday, August 3, at 8 pm at the Potter County Fair.

Destiny Green is a 2017 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School where she was a captain of the winter cheerleadering squad. She also was a member of the Arts and Humanities Club, Student Council, and served as secretary of the OV trap team. Destiny was manager of the wrestling and did track and field. She plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to pursue a degree in surgical nursing. Destiny is the daughter of Brad Green from Shinglehouse. She has volunteered at the senior center in Shinglehouse and the Special Olympics. When asked why she would like to be the Potter County Fair Queen, her response was: “I would like the honor of being the Potter County Fair Queen so I can further my knowledge of agriculture and also I would love to have the chance to represent God’s Country.”

Karina West is the daughter of Scott and Diane West of Shinglehouse. She attends Oswayo Valley High School where she participates Arts and Humanities Club, Student Council, NRG Club, band, chorus, and is serving as her class president. Karina is very active in sports including cross country, basketball, softball and track. She is a member of the Eleven Mile Livestock 4-H Club where she has done a market swine project. Karina’s future plans are to attend the Main campus of Pennsylvania State University to get a degree in medicine and become an obstetrician/pediatrician. Karina says she would like to be Potter County Fair Queen because, “I would like to be this year’s 2017 Potter County Fair Queen because I want to help revive the spirit and appreciation of our fair and ultimately agriculture in our area and community, especially among the young.”
