Registration Underway for Rural Regional College of Northern PA’s Fall Semester

Starting this fall, the Rural Regional College of Northern PA (RRC) is offering classes in partnership with Gannon University, transitioning students from a successful pilot program, the Education Consortium of the Upper Allegheny (ECUA). The RRC will provide affordable, accessible education and training that is linked to jobs in the region.

Nine courses are being offered for the fall semester including: First-Year Seminar; College Algebra; Business Technology I; Public Speaking; Business and Professional Communication; Philosophy of Knowledge; Psychological Statistics; College Composition; and Principles of Accounting I. These courses are part of two associate degrees – Business Management or Interdisciplinary Studies. However, if a student is not interested in an associate degree at this time, they can choose the course or courses they need for personal or professional development or take courses to transfer towards a degree program at another regional college or university.

This program is perfect for recent high school graduates, mid-career adults seeking to advance in their career or begin a new one, and current high school juniors and seniors who meet eligibility requirements and want to earn college credits while still in high school. The RRC is designed to be affordable, with state funding helping to keep tuition costs low. Students with a high school diploma or GED pay just $180 per credit. Current high school students pay just $60 per credit. Financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available.

All of the courses are offered in the evenings and are available at the Coudersport and Port Allegany offices of the Education Council, as well as 15 additional locations throughout northwest and north central Pennsylvania. RRC instructors teach classes live (real-time), and interactive television (ITV) allows all students to simultaneously view and interact with each other.

The registration deadline for fall semester is August 18, 2017, and classes start August 21st. For more information or to register, contact Janine Morley at (814) 274-4877 or janine@pottercountyedcouncil.org or Jocelyn Hamilton.Bash at (814) 603-1229 or jhamilton.bash@ecuapa.org.
