Spartan Ball Celebrates Veterans, Helps Raises Funds

KERSEY – Retired Marine Sergeant Major Todd Parisi’s rousing keynote address highlighted a festive night celebrating the service of military veterans during Dickinson Center Inc.’s Spartan Ball at the Red Fern Banquet and Conference Center July 7.

Parisi, a 28-year veteran of the Marines, captivated the audience of well over 100 attendees during the semi-formal ball that honors veterans, promotes awareness about mental health care and raises funds for DCI. The 2017 version of the event collected almost $10,000 that will benefit DCI programs and the individuals it serves.

A particularly moving moment occurred when a local veteran, Mr. Ed Kuntz, was recognized and honored. Kuntz served in the U.S. Army’s third armored division in the late 1940s.

Parisi offered his appreciation to Kuntz, saying “It was a profound honor and very humbling to recognize a great American Patriot. I enjoyed spending the evening with Mr. Kuntz and his wife Carol.”

Parisi himself served as an infantryman, Combat Sniper Team Leader, Staff Non-commissioned officer in Charge of the Scout-Sniper School, Director of the Leadership Academy, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Global Crisis Response Force along with many other billets and assignments.
