Farmers Market Has Penn State Extension Demonstration Today

National Farmers' Market Week is yearly celebration sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that highlights the important role farmers' markets play in the nation’s food system. Come and be part of this observance at the Potter County Farmers' Market today (Friday) from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in downtown Coudersport.

Penn State Cooperative Extension Nutrition Educator Laurie Maletto will be under the blue Penn State canopy offering samples of a farm fresh salad with homemade vinaigrette dressing featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from market vendors.

Vendors planning to attend this week include
McKeone's Orchard and Nursery,
Metzger Heritage Organic Farm,
Miles Farm Produce,
Grass Roots Creamery,
Barbara's Creations,
Davenport's Woodcrafts and
Alpaca Creations.

When local small farms thrive, so does the community. From vibrant community gathering places, to better access to wholesome produce, to protecting our environment through sustainable farming practices, we are all better off when local farmers and farmers markets succeed.
