beloved sister, aunt and friend

OLEAN — Mary Lou Hurrle Latten, 82, formerly of Eldred, Pa., passed into the Lord’s presence unexpectedly on Thursday (Aug. 3, 2017) in the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, of injuries sustained in a fall.

Born June 3, 1935, in Olean, she was a daughter of Thomas I. and Mildred D. Harris Hurrle. On Aug. 24, 1968, in Eldred, she married Wesley D. Latten, who passed away on Jan. 8, 2000.

She was originally a native of Eldred and had graduated from Eldred High School in 1955. She has resided in Olean since 1998, and had been employed by the Viko Furniture Company in Eldred for 15 years.

Mary Lou was a devoted member of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Olean where she attended for many years and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was passionate about animals and had adopted several rescue dogs and cats. Mary Lou never had children so she considered her pets to be her family. She always gave them great care and had shared her life with them to the fullest.

Surviving are a brother, James Hurrle of Eldred; several nieces and nephews; special long time cousin and friends, Helen Stayer and her husband, Joe, of Olean.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Hurrle; and a sister, Marlyn Jane Jackson.

Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, (Aug. 6, 2017). The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Olean with the Rev. Kim Rossi officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery in Eldred.

Memorials may be made to the Olean SPCA.
