Nothing like letting the fox into the hen house

It is VERY sad that the Borough would sell anything to an investor. When they did not even ask the historical society nor was that offer made public, either here or in the news. SHAME on you, as you should be disappointed in yourself Counsel members.

The chamber of commerce sold it borough council hand no day read the article before you open your mouth

Better watch out. Next thing you know, they will be selling the citizens of the boro private homes.

Why is the Housing Authority included in this discussion? Is this guy buying it on his own or is that group buying it? They already bought three more houses down there and the big lot over by Lincolns where all those modular offices were from Tom Majot. Totally out of control and spending like a drunken sailor. All of this gets off the tax roles too. If you have an opinion you should tell it to the authority members. On their website the names are David Buckler, Jeff Wilcox, Phil Vaughn, Terry Goodenough and Shawn Wolfinger.

Typical Potter County politics. I heard Hillary was invited after all she would fit right in.

I don't know the specifics but I am guessing that Mr. Moore should not have mentioned the Housing Authority because this was a private sale to one man and not to that agency. That authority has been buying up half of Coudersport and stripping the tax rolls but even that Gang of Five would not go this far, would they? Where do Buckler and the gang get all of the money to keep buying buying buying just about every week? The taxpayers.

So am i reading this right, the PCHS is resposible for all costs of this and were never notified of the sale ? Why wasnt the sale made public ? isnt it tax payers money paying for restoring the caboose ? Even if its donation its still public money . Sounds like a "good ol boy" club to me , im probably reading it all wrong though

The Housing authority did NOT buy the caboose; And not all properties of the Authority are off the tax rolls. The industrial park that was criticized for coming off the tax rolls now generates over $100,000 per year to the local taxing bodies in taxes, liquid fuels, water and sewer revenues and more. Distortion of the truth contributes nothing to our community. Specific questions about the agencys investments can be directed to our members or myself at any time, we are located at 109 Market street in the Industrial park, 814-274-7031, PO Box 312, Coudersport or at either of our meetings the 3rd monday of every month. I'm sure the chamber will tell it's members and the public the purchase price and terms and if it is staying at it's current location.

In my opinion, I'm sure it will turn out to be another stellar real estate investment. Be sure to keep an eye out for it on airbnb.

Unbelievable, you should be ashamed John Wright! You don't even take care of the Freeman as it should be taken care of. I know you said you'd buy the ladies who do gardening up their a shed to store supplies in, you never did. We had spiders and other critters crawling about yet exterminator was never called. The water up that way smells, taste like carp and has sediment in it. Leaves toilet rings and stains yet it's never been tested! Maybe you should learn to take care of what your already responsible for before you take on other projects. SMH...

How is the leadership of the housing authority chosen? I think it's high time to get someone else in that office that isn't more concerned with lining their own pockets than they are about the people. This has been going on for more than a decade.......time for a change.

3;09 You might want to call the Borough water authority or the Coudersport Borough office (814 274-9776), the Housing authority doesn't run the water system serving the Freeman house.

SHAME on YOU Chamber of Commerce. That was downright DIRTY and DISGUSTING. I am so fed up with the people in authority here who have NO RESPECT for our town's history.
What's next... the Lady Justice on top of the courthouse>!

As a member of the Arboretum Committee I shall take some heat. I will sign my name at the end of my statement. I've been involved in the Arboretum since 2004. During this time we have struggled for members and volunteers. The Caboose was offered FIRST to the Arboretum we declined as we do not have the funds that could be needed for restorations. Now all these meetings that most of you all want to complain about are public, that being said your welcome to attend. Mr Wright was INVITED by myself to come to a meeting to see if he could help us sort through the possibility that the Arboretum might have to more. Mr Wright had a few possible solutions if that happened. So that is the long and short of it how he became involved. I'm sure anyone who feels community minded would be welcomed with open arms at any of these PUBLIC meetings. I myself yes am from a larger area even though I've resided here since 1974. All I was trying to do was think outside the box. Sheetz is a large corporation who is very community minded I know that they too give back to the area. I did NOT waiver with my desire to keep the Arboretum where it is. Realistically I understood it could possibly be a part of our community that would have to move. To anyone who has attended a meeting offered an idea I'd like to say thank you. To Mr Wright I apologize that you once again have to take grief over caring for our community. Kathy Hewitt Kinard

I am so fed up with all the madness going on. The threat of selling the arboretum has been a 2yr battle! Then the Fracking Waste Water Fiasco with CAMA... and now this.

Makes you wonder what is going on with folks in authority here.

This sort of behind closed doors dealing is simply wrong on so many levels. Who exactly had ownership of the Caboose when it was sold? Whoever had legal ownership, this is the sort of thing that belongs to the public and should not have been sold out from under those who had true ownership. How was the caboose acquired in the first place? Was it donated or purchased? And if so, purchased originally by whom? I believe there are many such questions that need to be answered. Lastly, shame on John Wright for even asking to purchase something that should belong to the community.

I have several questions for Mr. Wright-
1- how much did you pay for the caboose
2- What do you plan on doing with it- your agreement says it can be removed for restoration but must be kept in the borough- so
3 - where would it eventually be placed?
4- Do you have an agreement with Mr Majot to place in on land near Vine Street where no visitors would ever see it?
5- Why wasn't the public notified of the possible sale
6- Why wasn't the chamber encouraged to have our local residents raise the money in a manner similar to what we did for the pool?
7- how can you move it and not destroy the surrounding trees and stonework that is currently there?
8 Would you consider being a good citizen and donating it to the Historical Society?????????????????????????????????

Follow the money... John Wright is pretty cozy with Majot. Sounds like a sneaky deal in the making.

The Chamber members (businesses and individuals), the Chamber board members, and Mr. Wright, are all groups and individuals that care about Coudersport and are interested in developing it into a great place to live, work, and do business. There are always communication errors between groups and individuals, no matter the size. All of these people are giving up their free time by being board members and community members for no pay; being either elected into or volunteering for their roles out of interest in their community. The power of free speech to voice concerns regarding actions is great! Directing that free speech in person to those people involved and active is more productive than an anonymous forum. All of these individuals involved, guaranteed, will listen to your input. Take the first step and give these folks a call, or visit them in person, or get them a cup of coffee. A journey of one-thousand miles begins with a single step.

I think a lot of the problem here comes from the lack of publicity of the intentions before an action was taken. The minutes and agenda of the Chamber meetings were previously sent to members and Solomon's words posted them in the news. When Alex Fish left his job at the chamber, we no longer received this information and consequently it was not revealed to the public. Solomon's words publishes the agenda & minutes of the area governments and civic organizations free of charge, but someone has to send them. We don't know unless you tell us!!
