Two Injured When Trucks Collide Near Ansonia

From Elmira Star-Gazette

WELLSBORO –May 16, 2007- Two men were injured, one critically, in a two-truck crash this morning that closed U.S. Route 6 near Ansonia for nearly an hour.

Michael Goodling, 27, of West Main Street in Galeton, was listed in critical condition this afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. A medical evacuation helicopter transported him from a Wellsboro landing pad to the medical center.

Joseph E. Kuhns, 56, of Pine Lane in Liberty, was listed in stable condition this afternoon at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro.

State police at Mansfield said Goodling was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck east on Route 6 in Shippen Township, two miles west of Ansonia at about 10:45 a.m. Kuhns was driving a UPS box truck west on the road, police said.

As Goodling’s vehicle went around a left curve, it crossed over the center line and struck the delivery vehicle nearly head-on, police said.

Wellsboro and Galeton firefighters assisted state police at the crash scene. Police said Goodling was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Kuhns was wearing a seat belt, police said.
