Causer, Scarnati Announce Arts Grants

Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) and Sen. Joe Scarnati (R-Brockway) today announced grants for five area arts programs in Cameron and Potter counties.

The grants were awarded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Northern Tier Cultural Alliance.
“Support of the arts is certainly a worthwhile investment by the state," Causer said. “Local arts programs bring enjoyment to many people, and just as importantly, they encourage people of all ages to explore their own artistic talents."
Scarnati agreed. “Arts programs not only educate but also enrich the lives of people in our area. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunities available through these programs."
The grants were awarded as follows:
  • Songwriter’s Roundtable, Coudersport -- $2,269 for the Songwriters Roundtable event which brings songwriters from around the country together in an in-the-round format each month to share songs and inspiration. Learn more at
  • Sarah Batson, Coudersport Area School District Art Instructor -- $2,323 for the formation of a mural club.
  • Cameron County 4-H, Emporium -- $1,417 to help bring local artists of diverse disciplines together to share their skills and samples of their work with area youth at a two-week day camp.
  • Austin Dam Memorial Association, Austin -- $1,631 to help fund performer fees for the annual Dam Show.
  • Potter County Fine Arts Council, Coudersport -- $1,557 to support three concerts/dances featuring groups from Canada, West Virginia and Texas.
The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is a statewide organization whose mission is to foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in Pennsylvania and broaden the availability and appreciation of those arts throughout the state.
