Police Reports From WFRM News

A Coudersport woman escaped injury in a weather-related crash taking place last Wednesday on Route 49 about four miles east of Coudersport. State police said Lindsay Russell lost control of her Pontiac Sunfire while headed west. The compact slid off the road and became stuck in the snow.

Several car/deer crashes have been investigated by state police across the region. Philip Staib of Johnstown escaped injury Thursday evening when his Ford Spor Trac hit a whitetail on Route 6 in Ulysses Township. The driver and his passenger, Charles Staib, also of Johnstown were both wearing seatbelts and escaped injury. The driver of a cargo van also escaped injury when his vehicle struck a deer Friday night on Route 872 just north of the Southwoods road in Homer Township. William, Bataille of Pittsford, NY was headed south when deer came onto the road into his path. And, Edward Grimes of Port Allegany escaped injury Saturday afternoon when a whitetail jumped in front of him on Route 155 two miles south of that town.

Troopers locally are charging 47 year old Dale Marks of Tremont, PA hit and run for a crash taking place early Friday morning in Cross Fork. Authorities say a pick up truck driven by Marks destroyed a Tri-County Electric pole and sent several customers into the dark. Police claim Marks fled the scene but was later located at a nearby establishment.

A theft taking place sometime between 2:00 p.m. Friday and 1:45 a.m. Saturday is being investigated by state police here. Thieves forced their way through a back door at the home of Kenneth Dixon on Grover Hollow Road and removed two 56” inch Sony tvs, a Sony Surround Sound system and an X-box 360 valued at a total of $5,000. Damage to the door was said to be about $50.

Troopers at Kane are investigating a theft from a vehicle taking place Friday night or Saturday morning. Thieves reached into a vehicle owned by Adam Miles of Port Allegany while it was parked in a driveway on Broad Street and took a hunting rifle, hand gun and flashlight.
