"County Owns Roulette Building Free And Clear"

The Potter County Commissioners, during their regular meeting last Thursday, formally announced that Potter County Human Services will not be moving to the Gunsburger Annex, the former Adelphia Scho
ol Building on North Main Street in Coudersport.

The announcement, which had been rumored for several weeks, was made by Chairman Doug Morley.

During a regular meeting in late February or early March, the commissioners seemed to back away from moving Human Services to the building donated by Time-Warner, as had been planned by the previous Board.

Human Services staff reportedly was told about the change late last month. Commissioner Paul Heimel noted the county owns the LL Smith Building in Roulette free and clear.

When questioned by WFRM on April 14, Chairman Morley said no plans had been made and that the commissioners were waiting for a report from LaBella and Associates, the firm they had hired to review the space available and requirements.

The commissioners did acknowledge that they had discussed an Alternative Education program with the county’s school superintendents and said the program might be located in the building along with county offices.
