She died peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2008.

She was born on May 15, 1919, the daughter of the late Ruth and Lee VanDusen of Cowanesque, PA.

Betty devoted herself to her family. She was an avid gardener and loved to golf and bowl. She always enjoyed a good game of pinochle with her children. She was very involved with the Cub Scouts and youth bowling in the Westfield area.

She was predeceased by her husband, Domenick O. Sama; and son, Howard C. Sama. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Sama of Westfield, PA; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Judi Sama of York, ME, and Pete and Michelle Sama of Westfield, PA. She was the beloved grandmother of Tim (Rebecca) Sama of Rochester, NH, Rebecca (Nick) Owsley of Cambridge, MA, Nicholas Sama of Cambridge, MA, Mary Beth Sama of Phoenixville, PA, and Craig Sama of Phoenixville, PA; great-grandchildren, Katie and Anabelle Sama. She is also survived by brothers, William VanDusen of Cowanesque, PA, Howard (Joann) of Sunset Beach, NC; sister-in-law, Wilma Sama of Westfield, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Potter County Hospice Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or the charity of one's choice.
