Bruce's Blog--Day 52

Waking up this morning was like waking up in a sauna! Let’s just say at this time of the year, even this far North, you don’t need an alarm if you’re waking up by 9:00 A.M.

Fortunately, we were underneath a canopy of trees next to a river, which was about 10 degrees cooler. It wasn’t too long after 10:00 this morning that we were out on the road and ready to go. We were very excited because we were going to be able to spend some time with my family who lives just 25 miles north of our route.

Before we encountered them, though, we reached a decently sized state park called “Concoctin.” It was astounding! I only had one long hill to conquer, and the rest of the way was a subtle decline until six miles before my final destination for the day. The hill was relatively short compared to the average. The average distance from base to summit of these hills is 4 miles. Today’s was only 2.5 miles.

The refreshingly cool breeze blowing up against me as I was biking through Concoctin was rejuvenating. Shortly after we had passed through, I began my running leg. I felt stronger than ever before.

Only a few miles into my running leg, and my aunt, uncle, and cousin met up with me. I was thrilled to be able to see them because I hadn’t seen them for quite some time. They made us a delectable meal and my favorite dessert for which we really appreciated. There’s nothing quite like a home cooked meal. We also had plenty of time to share our stories and many laughs.

Thank you so much!!! We would like to thank CNC Metal Works Inc. for putting us up for a refreshing, one night’s stay at Day’s Inn. We really appreciate that. I’m sure by tomorrow we’ll be well rested and ready to hit the road once again.

We have only four days of moving left, and we’re trying to relish every moment.

Thank you to all of you who are continuing to pray for us, to those who leave us encouraging posts on our guestbook, and for the continued support and donations towards Provisions of Life.

We’ll see you back out on the road. God bless all!
