Man Flees Cops--Inspection Sticker Was Expired

Man ‘afraid of going to jail' allegedly flees cops

Sun Gazette

A 42-year-old Williamsport area motorist has been arrested on charges of taking Old Lycoming Township police on a high-speed chase that resulted in the driver crashing his car in the 1300 block of Crescent Hill Road on July 15.

During the pursuit, which began in the 4300 block of Lycoming Creek Road, Timothy Arden Goodreau of 2961 Lycoming Creek Road traveled at speeds in excess of 100 mph, and at one point forced another motorist off the road, police said.

After his car went down over an embankment, Goodreau bolted from the scene, police said, adding Goodreau left his wallet in the vehicle.

When he was taken into custody for questioning the next day, Goodreau admitted he was the driver, and told investigators he fled "because he was scared of going to jail" because the car's inspection sticker had expired.

Following his arraignment Monday before District Judge James G. Carn on charges of fleeing or eluding police, disorderly conduct, and several summary violations including speeding and driving with a suspended license, Goodreau was released on $12,500 bail.
