Potter Commissioners Moving To New Offices

It’s moving day for the Potter County Commissioners.

The board announced at their Wednesday meeting that they would be the next group to re-locate to the former Adelphia School Building, now the Gunzburger Annex on North Main Street.

Register and Recorder Gary Kelsey was the first row officer to move into the new digs.

Treasurer Krista Miller moved in a couple of weeks ago.

Starting July 31, the regular meetings of the commissioners and salary board will be held in the first floor conference room located to the left at the top of the Main Street steps. All offices are accessible by elevator according to Commissioner Paul Heimel.

When the move is completed, only the court and court-related offices will be housed in the courthouse.

Chairman Doug Morley says the most challenging aspect of the move so far is matching keys with offices, desks and filing cabinets. The building was donated to the county by Time-Warner before the new board took office.

The previous board of commissioners had planned to move Potter County Human Services into the structure but the new administration announced shortly after taking office earlier this year that a feasibility study of the building indicated the space would better be utilized for County offices.

Taxpayers are thus spared the expense of erecting a new annex which had been considered by several previous boards.
