Sheetz Kitchen Facility Will Create 435 New Jobs

Courier Express
Sheetz Inc. launched a project Monday that will create 435 new jobs in Blair County.
Sheetz is building a $46 million kitchen facility, aided in part by $8 million in state loans and grants.

State Secretary of Community and Economic Development Dennis Yablonsky participated in Monday's ribbon-cutting.

The 140,000 square-foot building is located next to the Sheetz Distribution Center at the Walter Business Park in Claysburg. The kitchen facility will prepare ready-to-eat food products that are delivered daily to hundreds of Sheetz locations across six states.

"I'm thrilled to announce - especially during a time of national economic uncertainty - that this project will create more than 400 jobs for the hardworking residents of central Pennsylvania," Yablonsky said. "Sheetz's decision to expand speaks volumes about the quality of our workforce and also about the economic climate we've created in Pennsylvania."

The company's project was coordinated through the Governor's Action Team, which serves as a single point-of-contact and coordination for businesses considering locating or expanding in the state.

Sheetz Inc., a family-owned convenience store chain based in Altoona, has locations in six states and more than 11,000 employees. The company recently opened its 350th store in Dillsburg, York County.
