Storm Damages Scattered In North Central PA Area

There were scattered reports of damage from several waves of thunderstorms that moved through western and central Pennsylvania Wednesday and early today.

In Warren County, flash flood warnings remained in effect early today as slow-moving storms inundated some areas with heavy rain.

The National Weather Service office in State College reported that, northwest of Youngsville, several roads were closed due to flooding. The porch of a home was washed away and the resident had to be rescued. Two to 3 feet of water was reported across Miles Run Road in Pittsfield Township.

In Williamsport, 3 inches of rain fell Wednesday, setting a new record for the date; the old record was 1.98 inches in 1979.

In Big Run, Jefferson County, thunderstorm winds blew down trees 2 miles south of the borough.

In Indiana County, several trees were blown down at Yellow Creek State Park, 8 miles southeast of Indiana.
