Allegany Accepts Application For Wind Farm

Planning board OKs wind turbines

ALLEGANY - The Allegany Town Planning Board Monday night formally accepted the application for a wind energy project in the southwest portion of the town.

The project so far calls for about 32 wind turbines, each capable of producing 2.5 megawatts of power for a total capacity of about 80 megawatts, according to the company’s application to the board, submitted Aug. 22. Everpower proposes placing the turbines on both sides of Chipmonk Road between Flatstone and Nichols Run Road. The company is looking at tower heights of either 492 feet or 505 feet. More...

A person is born with nothing, it sounds like you still have most of it. My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you have hit rock bottom.

WOW... I have hit rock bottom!!! You couldn't be more right with you observation... I wrote 8 little words, and because those words dont comform to you views, you know everything about me to make a statement like that...

It must make you feel better about yourself to make such personal statements like that... if that is what you need to do to get through the day then you do that...

You can keep your heart... I dont need it... I love my life... I love where I live... most of all I love the fact that I can have my own "OPINION" about issues that we face here in our county, and I love to "LISTEN" to what OTHER people have to say about the same things without making them fell less of a human for haveing diffrent views then me...

why is nothing said about the drilling and pumping millions of gallons of water into the ground
where will this end up---IN YOUR DRINKING WATER. wake up people it is time to jion the 21st century.
you holler and scream about a windmill but say nothing about clearing hundreds of acres and miles of forest to run an oversized garden hose to pump water in the ground to ruin water supplies. OR do you have a well on your property or signed a lease with an oil company?

For the person that "wrote 8 little words"

It seems the people that write something that isn't negative on the wind farms gets personally bashed for having a positive opinion. I totally agree with you on this, maybe it will be a good change. It seems to me though, that this is where a lot of 'unhappy' people visit, so they can make themselves feel better about making unjustifiable statements about other people. Most of the comments left on here are very degrading, rude and obnoxious. They only like the people who think and have the same opinions they do. Whatever...everyone is entitled to their own opinions and deserve to state them without being personally put down.

Editor's note: I agree. You should see the comments I reject. Do you suppose we could

Maybe the person that wrote about the gas exploration should learn the facts also. Your drinking water is not thousands of feet deep where these fracs occur. Also the acquifers for drinking water are generally cased to avoid this issue. Lastly many of the "chemicals" you speak about are chemicals that come from the earth itself not from teh fracking that occurs. You people don't want any gas exploration or wind power in God's country. Guess that is why many of the area is turning into run down ghost towns. Step out in the real world sometime.

E coli comes from the earth but it doesn't mean that I want it on my cheeseburger. coal came from the earth as well and look at all the acid mine drainage problems we have now due to poor mining practices in the past. how about drinking some mercury. natural substance. i wouldn't though. as to our water, yes it comes from sources much closer to the surface than where the fracs occur, but the disturbance caused by those fracs and the materials brough from way down below and up through our water table is the problem. Think asbestos. Fine when laying asleep, deadly when stirred up. Mark
