PCEC Classes Offered This Week

Tree Maintenance and Care of Ornamental, Street and Fruit Trees
This course will be held at the Potter County Education Center’s Port Allegany office on Wednesday, September 17th from 6 – 9 p.m. Tim Pierson, Penn State Cooperative Extension Educator will discussing ways and techniques for maintaining your trees. Stained Glass Class 101
The Potter County Education Council will be sponsoring a stained glass class at its Port Allegany office on Wednesday, September 17th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join Sandy Shields as she shares her art in this introductory class. Participants will enjoy a brief demonstration followed by hands on glass scoring and soldering. If you’ve always been in awe of stained glass – we hope you join us. Preserving Your Garden Bounty Workshops
The Potter County Education Council will be sponsoring two classes on preserving your garden bounty. “Home Canning Basics” will teach participants how to use both boiling water and pressure canners for canning fresh fruits and vegetables. A video demonstration will show steps of the canning process. Canners and other equipment will be available to practice. Pressure gauge dials will be tested, so bring your gauge. “Good Eating from the Freezer” will teach participants how to freeze fruits and vegetables that taste good and maintain high quality during long-term storage. A video demonstration will show how to blanch and package foods for freezing. Both classes will be held on Saturday, September 20th at the Galeton High School. Times for the classes are 10 a.m. for canning basics and 1:30 p.m. for the freezing class. The cost for each class is $3 per person and you may choose to take one or both.
