Police Reports From WFRM News

In McKean County court action, 31 year old Heidi Horton of Kane was ordered to spend one to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to burglary. Last month, Horton admitted to burglarizing seven homes in and around Kane during the past year. Many of the burglaries occurred in broad daylight. Horton was given credit for 190 days already served.

Kane-based state police are probing at theft of several pieces of rail scrap from a railbed along route 446 behind the PennDot shed in Eldred Township between 10:00 p.m. Sunday and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. The metal belonged to Jeremy James of Eldred. Troopers are also investigating vandalism to a mailbox owned by Carl Mahoney of Kane Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call state police at 778-5555.

Coudersport Borough Police have charged 34 year old Jennifer Sisson of Roulette with possession of a small amount of marijuana after being called to her workplace last Friday night. Authorities say the patrol officer was summoned to Empereon when a small amount of pot was found following a search of her purse when co-workers told floor boss Jake Woodard that they had seen it here. Company rules allow searches of personal property. Sisson reportedly admitted to the officer that the marijuana was hers and that she had obtained it from a friend. A misdemeanor charge was filed Thursday before District Judge Annette Easton. Sisson’s employment was terminated as a result of the discovery, according to police.

How screwed up is this?? Empereon, the great savior of Potter County is nothing more than a glorified sweat shop. $20.00 an hour jobs were replaced by wages that are near the poverty line and our County leaders praise them as hero's. Was there any indication that this person was impared or using on the job? How did the fact that she had marijuana in her purse impact anyone's life at all. Some people need to see others hurt just so they can feel better..... Get a life folks!

Congrats to the co workers and to the supervisor for doing the right thing and for Empereon for taking swift action.

Illegal Drug posession cannot be tolerated in the workplace.

It's a shame we have to battle attitudes like the above poster.

What $20.00 jobs?!? I hope you aren't referring to Adelphia/TWC, because the elimination of those jobs surely wasn't the fault of Empereon or the Potter County leaders. And last time I checked, possession of marijuana was a crime. If it doesn't impact anyone's life, how would you like to hear your child's teacher or your physician was found to be in possession? Apparently some people need to break the law to make themselves feel better. Who needs to get a life?!?

It doesn't matter.....drugs are ILLEGAL. By the way....the days of local people with absolutely no marketable skills making $20 are over. If people want to make more money, Pure Carbon is hiring.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, sure, pot in the workplace is now acceptable in this day and age and because Empereon pays less than Adelphia go ahead and burn one on your lunch hour!!! No you get a life and discern right from wrong!!!

Darryl Jackson said...

I do agree that she should have not had the pot in the work place, But to be fired over it? I know a lot of the people that work in that place, and they seem to have a double standerd, as I know for a fact that they have on young man that works thier that is on work release. In jail for having a pipe on him, and drinking underage. He is a very good seller, so they needed him.Maybe, we should look at our teachers and probation offericers drinking and driving. It also is againest the law and seems much worse to me.Those in glass houses should not throw stones!

Ok First of all having pot on you at work is illegal.. actually having it ANYWHERE is illegal. As for the blogger who said that "By the way....the days of local people with absolutely no marketable skills making $20 are over.".. I was a Tier 2 HSI technician at Adelphia/TWC until they let us all go.. You will not find a better team of internet techs ANYWHERE!!!! Unlike the other centers that Time Warner has, we actually cared about our customers, and we had the skills to get them up and running. So I suggest that before you start running down the 500+ employees that were there until the bitter end, you get your facts straight.

DannyB said...

NittanyGurl....I wasn't inferring that everyone that used to work for Adelphia/Time Warner had no skills, but there were a lot of local people that got jobs at the company because they "knew" someone. Don't tell me it didn't happen either. There were people that had no college at all that were working at jobs that would require a B.S. anywhere else. The downfall of Adelphia affected a lot of people in the area, BUT...there were a lot of people that got "spoiled" by the abnormally high wages and are reluctant to take a call center job that only pays $8.50 an hour. I didn't think i was "running down" anyone and i apologize if people took my comments that way.

The poor girl probably had pot on here because working at Empereon drove her to it. HOW could she afford pot anyhow working there she sure isn't making enough to buy it herself..

Anonymous said...

way to go nittanygurl_87 I also worked as tech support and took pride in what we did for Adelphia and then Time Warner came along and showed us how to NOT treat a customer. to the blogger that said we had no marketable skills you had better check your information tech support and what our sales and retention team did are among the most sought after skills in the job market. as for e3mpereon they are a joke of a company, how long did their manager stay?, and how many people walked out the door and now drive to Olean to work for the Connection, weren't they supposed to come into the call center first?
must be they would not fleece the WRIGHT pockets woops sorry for the spelling error. I do not agree with the drugs in the workplace or any other place for that matter and want was done was illegal but DO NOT RUN THE GOOD ADELPHIA WORKERS DOWN we had very marketable skills just check and see how many have left the area for better jobs, maybe you should try and get a job at AMT MORGAN it is no longer called Pure Carbon

The young man Mr. Jackson is speaking of is not in jail for having a pipe on him or underage drinking. Mr Jackson before you smear a young man, you should probably go to the court hearing to find out what this gentleman is in jail for. Drugs are illegal and it is nice to see that employers do not tolerate them in the work place.

Anonymous said...

Just think if they searched everyones desks or purses?? They would have to do more than sit at Career Link and hire people on the spot. They may even have a few openings in upper mgt.

Learn how to spell Jackson and what the facts are before you go on a rampage

I agree with the person that said Empereon probably drove that girl to the Pot. I worked there for a few months, and it was absolutely horrible. Not only do you get beat up on the phones every day. You also get treated horrible by the upper management. There is only one person that is in the upper management now that is respectable. If you walk in the doors today you will not find many Adelphia people there anymore. In my opinion it does not have much to do with money either. Its all in how you are treated. It was okay making minimum wages because I didn't have to drive very far. Now I am one of the people that drives the hour to work at The Connection in Olean. I love it there....you actually get treated like a person and they care about you!

Iknow I can't wait to get out of Empereon. Since I've started working there I have been put on 2 different types of medication for anxiety and depression. Not worth the $8-$12 an hour. DITTO to the comment just above this one !

Anonymous said...

You know it's bad that even during an exiting interview (when you are leaving) the HR represenative tells you "GOOD LUCK" AND "I DON'T BLAME YOU FOR LEAVING".... Pretty Pathetic... The Empereon Mgt. Team certainly are not choosy about who they hire so why would a small amount of pot cause a girl to get fired?? She's better off anyhow..

Anonymous said...

Well it might not be "Adelphia" which I worked for also, but it is a job... I am at the 12/hour range and have seen a lot of positive changes since the change in upper management. Really people should be thankful that a employer came into town and employ so many. I'm just happy that I don't have to move my family and I have a job here. I can raise my kids in a small town environment. I think most people on here running "Empereon" down are those that were either fired or people that just can't be satisfied. And for the comment about Adelphia Employees overpaid, Adelphia tech support agents were better then any other major cable company. Adelphia Tier 1 was doing Time Warner Tier 3 work. We were all very good at our jobs. It might not be Adelphia but it is a great company to work for and hopefully I will be able to advance within the company.

The reason I know so much about the young man I spoke of is becouse he is my son. I know he was cought with a pipe, and booze here in my house, when I made him leave the housse not long after that he didnt tell his PO> that he moved and that seemed to be the last straw for his PO., and he was sent to jail after that. But the day the PO came to my house and found all the stuff he was tested and was still drunk from the night before, went to work and they sent him home. Didnt fire him, and Im glad they didnt. All I was saying was they need the same rules for all, they shouldnt pick and chose. Im sorry Im not a good speller, maybe if we were all made to put our names on our post people wouldnt be so fast to run others down about little stuff as they do, like spelling.

Well if it were my son, I wouldn't tell probation that my son was no longer living with me, especially if i kicked him out. I guess the sins of the father are passed to the son. I also know I would not run my son down on a blog spot or put his sins out to the public. I would be ashamed of myself. After these comments you made about your son, I take pride knowing that I take fatherhood seriously.

Darryl said...

So Im a bad father becouse my 20 year old son and his girl friend and dog needed a place to stay, I gave them that with the rules being no drugs in the house, and no hitting the girl at all ever, and he broke the rules, and I told him he had to go, and HE didnt tell his PO this, I was suposed to lie for him? Ya that will teach him. We have raised 4 teens in my house and all in all they are good kids, not becouse we lie for them, but becouse we make themlive up to what they do, or did. Life has rules...... But Ill be a bad father its ok.

Darryl said...

Also Just for the record, He doesnt have my last name, and Ive not said his name, so Im not telling everyone any thing. And I didnt run to the probation office to tell they calld me looking for him. I thought they all ready knew he moved. Not on me if he didnt do what he was supossed to do.

MR. JACKSON....please, just be quiet!!

Darryl said...

Lol Dont like it when others are right , do ya ? :)

Anonymous said...

So WOW... Poeple are bad parents for making thier children responsible for thier action... ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME???

I must say that if I had a son (BTW i have 2 daughters) that was 20 years old and he lived with me, if he was breaking the rules of MY house OUT THE DOOR!!! Esp if he was hitting a woman or drugs...

It would be time for him to put on his "big boy pants"...

Darryl... good job!!!!

Darryl said...

Thanks lol we had 3 boys and 1 girl, all a year apart. what fun lol

what trailer park are you two emailing from right now??? This is about a girl getting fired from work for doing something illegal! Mr. Jackson has for some reason, maybe a little to much puffing on what his son might have, has chosen to air all of his dirty laundry. I'm just trying to let you know, it's time to be quiet. Take another puff and shhhhhhh!!

Darryl said...

If its time to be quiet, then do so.And of course I told my son he had to leave for doing what I do all the time lol. And sorry I dont live in a trailer, I live in a house :).I really think they should make you put your name on these post, would stop a lot of this bad mouthing.

Ok, as an outsider who stumbled across this: I just cannot believe how ignorant some of you sound. In today’s economy and with real issues out there to debate, you have chosen to tear down some employer and defend a person breaking the law. If you want to see a “glorified sweat shop”, work fast food or be a janitor for a day. It sounds like there are some spoiled babies in a small town that are not paying any attention to the world around them. If this is a reflection of “normal” we as a country are in a world of hurt.

Response to the comment from DC... DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO WORK FOR EMPEREON MARKETING?? I'M GUESSING NOT.. LET ME TELL YOU FIRST HAND THAT IT IS ACTUALLY WORSE THAN A SWEAT SHOP.. I HAVE WORKED IN THE 'FAST FOOD AND JANITORIAL WORLD' AND THOSE WERE CAKE JOBS COMPARED TO GETTING CUT INTO THE GROUND BY MGT DAILY AND PAID SQUAT TO DO PUT UP WITH IT.. LUCKILY I GOT OUT.. SO PLEASE DON'T JUDGE US SMALL TOWN SPOILED BABIES UNLESS YOU KNOW THE FACTS..

Anonymous said...

kudos to darryl.. i just have one question for you... why does your son still have legs and arms that function ??

Anonymous said...

In response, first take caps off. Second, do you know what it’s like to not have a job? How about going without food? What about a home? A bad boss is small potatoes.
Richard

ACTUALLY.. YES I DO KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE WITHOUT A JOB AND I DO KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO STRUGGLE TO FEED & TAKE CARE OF MY KIDS ON LITTLE OR NO MONEY WITH NO HELP FROM ANYONE. BEEN THERE DONE THAT ! FORTUNATLEY I HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET OFF MY A** AND LOOK FOR A JOB I DON'T SIT AND WAIT FOR ONE TO FALL IN MY LAP ... DO YOU ??

Anonymous said...

I know what it's like to try and feed my kids while working.. I am doing it right now at Empereon. It is a tough task to maintain a high sales goal to make the $12 an hour. Especially when you have an emergency that takes you away from work for over 4 hours in a work week (like a sick child or other family member) because if you get sick or a child gets sick and you have to leave for a doctor's appointment and for whatever reason cannot make up the time, even if you are at the top of your sales you still make $8 an hour.. so yes, I think those of us working at the "glorified sweatshop" know what it is like to not have money for food, clothes and medical emergency consideration for our families...AS FOR THE ALL CAPS COMMENTS.... LEAVE THE CAPS ON I COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF

Anonymous said...

I love it, a high sales goal???? LMAO (are they hiring and where)
Try working straight commission. AND being a single parent.

I worked in Retention for Adelphia/Time Warner then I worked for Empereon. Two totally different companies and job discriptions. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Adelphia/TWC did pay well, making it worth keeping your job, however, I am pretty sure if anyone were to be caught with drugs at either place, they would have terminated that person's employment, regardless of anyones marketing skills, education or who they know. Hopefully Empereon will eventually offer better pay and benefits to those that work there, before history repeats itself, leaving many more unemployed. Maybe the lesson here was that the employee should leave her weed at home at the next job.

Anonymous said...

If those of you that work there are only making $8.00 per hour and hating it so bad, then just quit and get a new job instead of complaining about this one. You can make atleast $8.00 anywhere. I did.Now I have a $9.00 per hour job without the phone chord attachment and just as close to home. It's not much of a difference on my paycheck, but every little bit helps.

Maybe they should check to pockets and personal belongings of upper mgt. there ...
