Gov. Wants To Cut $72M From Welfare

WESB News: 10/31/08 - Rendell Identifies Some Budget Cuts
Pennsylvania Govenor Ed Rendell has identified $311 million in potential spending cuts to offset a decline in state tax revenues spurred by a faltering economy.

The largest reductions include $72 million from the Welfare Department and $78 million in education spending. Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi says even deeper cuts to the $28 billion budget are needed.

Education is a big part of our childrens lives, I don't see how they can take away from there, teachers have a hard enough time now with the little they have.

They should cut the Welfqare Department deeper than they are suggesting...they need to police the abuse of the system better also.

What needs to be done with the educational system is start making the parents accountable for their kids that are costing far above and beyond what it costs to educate a regular ed student. Have you ever wondered how much more it cost to bus the troubled kids to a "special class" because the can't behave in school or are costantly getting in trouble??? Bus them, hire a teacher and rent the rooms, get real!
