Little Known Provision Of Pa's No Smoking Law

Foster parents told: No smoking
The law, which took effect Sept. 11, forbids smoking in private homes or vehicles being used for child-care or "services related to the care of children and youth in state or county custody." That includes foster homes. More...

I feel that is a great law. I feel smoking around kids should be considered child abuse. The poor kids have no choice in the matter. The second hand smoke does alot of harm to their developing bodies. If parents cant grow up and either smoke outside or just quit altogether, they deserve to be fined or punished otherways until they learn to stop being selfish by making their kids sick. The addiction cant be that strong.

I totally agree with the new smoking laws and I'm a smoker.. I have kids and am around kids all the time. I donot smoke in my home or car or around them simply because it is just plain wrong and shouldn't take a law to get us to NOT do that, it should be common sense !! Unfortunately it is a very strong addiction and it is very hard to quit. Breaking a tobacco addiction is harder than breaking an 'illegal' drug addiction.

When I was raised by my parents...my father smoked non filtered brands like, Lucky Strikes.

Lets take the paddle away from the schools and wonder why some kids feel the can say and do anything...

Lets give all children an 800 number that is for abused children and then wonder why some parents can not "make their kids behave"...

Lets all look into the mirror and ask,"why do these kids have NO respect"?

Ya, guess I am wrong...maybe we do need a government that continues to restrict adults rights, then we can BLAME our government for the disrespect of this nations youth!

Even better lets serve breakfast at school because the loser parents can't get up and feed there kids. waste of tax payers dollars. It's always somebody else's fault..

To the kid of the Lucky strikes Dad, You are so right. Kids seem to have the upper hand anymore. Thats why we see these young kids sitting around on the street puffing away on cigs themselves, while the parents are non smokers.

I am pretty sure that it is because foster homes are state funded and they have to follow the guidelines as well, and not because smoking makes parents unfit

I do agree with no smoking in home or vehicles whether a foster parent or your own kids. I am a smoker but have nver smoked in my home. It's my chioce to have that habbit why should the have to suffer from it. However the government is going overboard with childrens rights. You can't spank your child without children and youth being called. Let me tell you I don't care where I am if my child needs there ass or mouth smacked I'm gonna smack it!!! That doesn't mean I beat my child, but we need to go back to old school and kids wouldn't act like the world owes them!!
