Beulah B. Steckhahn, 98, Formerly Shinglehouse and Bradford, PA

Shinglehouse, PA---Beulah B. Steckhahn, 98, formerly of Shinglehouse and Bradford, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.

Born March 18, 1910 in Phillipsburg, PA, she was a daughter of Lewis F. and Mary Watson Livingston. On April 13, 1942 in Cumberland, Maryland, she married Benjamin L. Steckhahn, who died on January 10, 1998.

She graduated from Clearfield (PA) High School, class of 1929. A former resident of Bradford, PA, Mrs. Steckhahn operated the gift shop at the former Emery Hotel in Bradford. She later volunteered at the Bradford Hospital gift shop.

Mrs. Steckhahn and her late husband moved to Shinglehouse in 1972.

She was a member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church and the Mary Martha’s group of the church. She was a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse. She, along with her husband, enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Surviving are a brother, William I. (Jane) Livingston, Sr. of Palm Coast, Florida; a sister, Betty Vail of Racine, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Steckhahn was predeceased by two brothers, James R. Livingston and Clarence R. Peterson.

At Mrs. Steckhahn’s request there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, PO Box 296, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
