Frances L. Vota, 81, Port Allegany, PA

PORT ALLEGANY- Frances L. Vota, 81, of 311 Arnold Ave., died Saturday (Dec. 13, 2008) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

Born March 18, 1927, in Roulette, she was a daughter of Lynn and Louise Thielges Caulkins. On Feb. 14, 1981, in Leechburg, PA, she married Anthony “Tucker” P. Vota, who died July 19, 1998.

Mrs. Vota had worked for Pittsburgh Corning Co., during WWII, and later several years at Viko Co. (now Ethan Allen Co.) of Eldred.

She was a longtime resident of the area, coming from Leechburg, PA.

She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church of Port Allegany, and a social member of the Smethport Country Club.

Surviving are a son, Tony A. Pekarski of Port Allegany, two daughters, Loreen M. (Richard) Grant of Frankfort, KY, Deborah J. (Richard) Bledsoe of Trilby, FL; five grandchildren, Lisa Blansit, Lee Landry, and Christian Pekarski all of Port Allegany, Justin and Troy Bledsoe, both of Trilby, Fl, Lynette (Brian) Falkenstein of Burlington, NJ, and Chris Cavanaugh of Sicklersville, NJ; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Nolder of Roulette, Virginia (Bob) Russell of Port Allegany, Lynne Ann (Glenn) Skinner of Westfield, PA; a brother, David Caulkins of Roulette; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Anthony, and a twin daughter, Doreen Fair.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2008) in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Murphy, as celebrant. Burial will be in Fishing Creek Cemetery, Roulette.

A Scriptural wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Fishing Creek Cemetery Association or the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
