Commercial Rig Wrecks
A Bradford driver received minor injuries when his commercial rig wrecked Wednesday afternoon on Route 6 in Keating Township, McKean County. State police said Francis Caldwell was driving too fast when the load shifted while negotiating a right hand curve near Irons Hollow Road causing the trailer to rotate clockwise off the road and strike an embankment. The rig then spun counterclockwise as Caldwell tried to regain control but the load, a D-4 overhead mounted pulling unit, shifted severely causing the trailer to overturn, then the cab. The load came off the trailer land on its side near the trailer. A portion of the eastbound lane of Route 6 was closed to traffic for about two-and a half hours. Caldwell’s passenger, Jeremy Goodrich, also of Bradford was not hurt. The driver is being cited for failing to drive at a safe speed.

Scarnati Sworn in As Lt. Governor
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati was sworn in Wednesday during a private ceremony, as the next Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Scarnati succeeds Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll, who passed away in November after a battle with cancer. “I am honored to have been sworn in as Lieutenant Governor, but given the circumstances surrounding the ascension, this certainly is not a celebration,” Scarnati stated. “Catherine was a tremendous public servant and will be sorely missed. However, know that I respectfully accept this responsibility and will carry out the duties of this office with dignity and integrity. Under the Constitution, Scarnati is required to hold both Lieutenant Governor and State Senate positions at the same time.

Senator Scarnati was sworn in by the Honorable Judge John M. Cleland. Scarnati was re-elected last month to his third term in office, and subsequently was sworn in as interim President Pro Tempore for the second time. His Senatorial District includes all or portions of Warren, McKean, Potter, Tioga, Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, and Clearfield Counties. Read more news....
