PA Tolls Go Up/I-80 Toll Issue Not Dead

Turnpike tolls to increase 25 percent next month

The fate of the state's Act 44 transportation plan might be in limbo, but it will not stop a 25 percent toll increase on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in January.

The state Turnpike Commission today planned to release details of the toll hike scheduled to begin Jan. 4 as officials continue to consider another attempt at charging drivers to use Interstate 80.

"In order to make the payments specified under Act 44, we have to raise tolls 25 percent in January and then annually in the neighborhood of 3 percent," said Bill Capone, a commission spokesman. More....

The increase of tolls for the Turnpike is okay with me -- you want the fast life then you have to pay!

I am praying that the Federal Highway Administration NEVER APPROVES A TOLL FOR I-80 as this road belongs to all (not just PA folks)!!

I-80 already has tolls on it in other states...why should PA be any different?

Lets hope you still feel this way when the Federal and State tax on gas goes up! Because if the price of gas gets any lower per gallon that is what will happen!

But hey, if you want to drive a vehicle it will be the price you have to pay!
