Wilhelmina D. "Billie" Watson, 89, Galeton, PA

Wilhelmina D. "Billie" WATSON, 89, of Galeton, PA, died on Monday, December 8, 2008, at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA.

Born May 25, 1919, in Galeton, she was a daughter of the late Clyde A. and Emma (Schramm) Devling.

She was a 1937 graduate of Galeton High School and a 1941 graduate of the Mansfield State Teachers College, now Mansfield State University.

On July 12, 1946, in Bradford, PA, she married Arthur S. Watson Jr., who predeceased her on September 25, 2008.

Billie taught at Austin Elementary School for two years, Bradford Elementary School for 24 years, and retired from Galeton Elementary School, where she particularly enjoyed teaching reading and the 2nd grade. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galeton.

Surviving are a brother, Robert (Betty Jo) Devling, Galeton; sisters, Patricia Klotz, S. Williamsport, PA, Mary Devling, Galeton and Betty Devling, Galeton; nieces, Barbara (Dennis) Smoley, Baden, PA, Susan (David) Karvonen, Wellsboro, and Holly Klotz, Pasadena, CA; nephews, Stephen (Brenda) Devling, Dallas, TX, and James (Madonna) Devling, Newport Beach, CA; great-nieces, Megan Smoley, Melissa Smoley, Ashley Devling and Sophia Devling; nieces, Wendy Warren, Gainesville, FL, Patricia Gleason, Queensbury, NY, and Cheryl Ross, Ocala, FL; a nephew, Michael Watson; step nieces, Carol (William) Hetrick and Patricia Wentz; step nephews, Sander Curtis and Dr. Thomas (Katy) Klotz; and a cousin, Ruth Perantoni.

Friends may call Monday, December 15, 2008, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
