Police Seek Operator Of Stolen Bulldozer Who Destroyed Camp

WESB News: 02/11/09 - Camp Destroyed by Stolen Bulldozer

Someone destroyed a camp in Wetmore Township with a bulldozer, and did more than $100,000 worth of damage.

State police say someone drove a bulldozer owned by Jerry Monroe of Kane to Paul and Helen McKenna's camp off Jo Jo Road. The person used the bulldozer to destroy the camp and damage several other buildings in the area.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Kane-based state police.

When they figure out who dunnit, tell 'em to send 'em over this way. I know a coupla ignorant, drunken, and foul mouthed camp owners that deserve the same thing.

Nobody deserves to have this happen to them, no matter where they are from.

Strange things have happen over the past 100 years in dealing with some unwanted parties. The Old timers and some not so old, have been noted to salt things good for Mr. Porky. Even to the point of giving him a place out of the weather
There was a tale of a Fire Men’s training on arson fires started with propane and a candle.
A short time later in the area, there was nothing but a slab left.
Night skies were not so dark.
A few years ago some dead deer were left in the woods. They were laid to rest in the beds and one in the oven.
Than summer came!
A bull dozer is a new twist!
Stories around the wood fire; some just tales, others--- you may have heard of.
Little johnnies should take note, before running off at the mouths.

A man deals with his problems head on.

A spineless coward destroys the property of someone he doesn't like because he is too weak and afraid to deal with it face to face.

Anyone who condones or promotes these despicable acts of cowardice is as morally bankrupt and lacking in honor as the one committing them.

So wherz that dozer and operater? Time is a wastin'

Well bring back the "blanket parties" for lil jonny, the fatlander's...respect is earned and it is a two way street!

After reading some of the above comments, I can't believe ANYONE would invest their money in purchasing a camp in Potter County. I'd certainly find a friendlier place to spend my money. Leave it to the natives to ruin everything.

What’s that old saying—DON”T RATTLE THE DOGS CHAIN>>>
Let them SLEEP!!

What really amazes me is that there are any hillbillies up there that are smart enough to drive a dozer in the first place. Maybe it was a mistake? Besides....you hill folk would have a hard time getting to my camp from your trailer court.

sounds like a typical hick. wasnt man enough to keep what he had and got jealous because someone else was man enough to take what he had, so he dozed the place. insurance will kick in with a hefty payout. hick either goes to jail, or lives out his pathetic life being...pathetic. win win for the flatlander.

Up front, I am sorry this happened to these folks and I would hope that insurance will make everything good again, aside from the things destroyed by some boner. They tend to knock us flatlanders but do not think where the county finances, or their school finances, would be if there were no flatlanders. I know by looking at the real estate ads online that I pay more Potter Co/unamed SD taxes annually than average for where we are at. Our cabin and our taxes keep PoCo afloat, not to mention the services we buy. And on that note and as someone spoke of RESPECT. I would like the guy(s) from the well drilling place, who drilled our new ($8K+) well last year, to return the DVD's (3) they ganked from our hut. I now have to pause, and think, do I really want a local working at my cabin again unless of course I can be there 24/7 to keep an eye on them? You feel violated when you give someone the key to your place, a supposedly trusted, local business, pay them untold thousands of dollars, only to have things go missing. Luckily, it was only DVD's, no big deal. RESPECT is indeed earned, and sometimes, sadly enough, it just isn't. Now I guess I'll get the checkbook out and get those 2009 Potter Co taxes paid within the discount period. Peace.

It's a minority of idiots who knock the "flatlander." It doesn't reflect majority opinion around here at all. I respect Mr. Jone prerogative to post or not any comments on here. The ones that are strictly provocative as many are on this story, I wouldn't post if it was my blog. At least, some common sense discussion is coming from this horrible story and some of idiotic posts on this story.

Maybe the camp owner paid the local to bulldoze the camp down?$$$$$$$$ Ya never know! Most of the flatlanders up there have been there long e-nuff to earn local status! Most of them have always been pretty cool to me when I lived there for 25 years x-cept Johnny seems to start a lot of crap! :( Brad

Anonymous said...

You are right Brad, there are some very nice and “cool” people and camp owners from out of the area that come here and are very respectable.
You also have those that are not; right along with locals who are not.
A blog is a place which brings out all sorts articles that are interesting and others that are just for getting some thing going.
Jim”- keep them coming as they make for a good laugh in the night.

Well...I didn't start anything on this particular post. I was brought into this by other people and I only added my comments after they thought they could bash me. I have been visiting the area for many years and have had a camp in Potter County for almost 10 years. I like "most" of the people I have encountered in the area....but it really seems like there are a lot of people that have a serious attitude problem concerning people from out of the area. I don't have this problem at all when I go to my camp in the Adirondacks...all of the people there get along with everyone and they don't bicker about petty issues like you Potter Countians do....

"hillbillies up there that are smart enough to "drive a dozer""

Equipment is operated not driven..how do you think the trails and back roads were constructed up here in the hills?

We have some of the best equipment operators in the country, and proud of it!

WHOS THE STUPID HEAD THAT SAID 'DRIVE A DOZER'??? CERTAINLY YOU MY FRIEND ARE A CITY SLICKER ...

Anonymous said...

"State police say someone drove a bulldozer" So I guess the State Police in your area are "STUPID HEADS" too? Come on you hicks..operated , drove, rode, pedaled....who gives a crap. Must be the person "operated" the dozer into the building. You just keep continuing to prove my point about how you narrow minded people argue about the most insignificant things and you keep proving that your mental capacity is limited. Better stick to playing solitaire on your old IBM...you might be stressing your dial up connection to much with posting comments on here.

I have all ways been told it is not necessary to put someone else down to make yourself look good...do not judge people you do and do not know.

Maybe some of the people that do not live around here could take heed of this message...

Anonymous said...

I don't pretend to be judging anyone...it is more of a "show and tell" session....

I don't have to put people down..they have already done that for themselves....

Anonymous said...

"I don't have to put people down..they have already done that for themselves...."

Oh really?

Let us see...You stated you can come to our home towns and take what you want when you want because you spend money here?

Use what you want as far as women and land and pretend everyone lives in a trailer and has old worn out computers without DSL!

Ya, I would say the shoe fits you!

I am not judging you, I am stating a fact from your words, not mine.

Anonymous said...

Stump Jumper.... noone is "using" your women or land. theres plenty of public land to go around. and your women have free will. ill agree not everyone lives in a trailer, or has outdated computers. and cable is big, not dsl. but youll have to agree theres alot of lazy people, and your women are free. the old saying holds true up there. "theres only 2 things to do, hunt and ****, what do we hunt? something to **** "

Anonymous said...

"Stump Jumper.... noone is "using" your women or land."...

Well I should hope not because I have a HUSBAND!

And you are right there is a lot of public land...Lil Johnny flatlander is the one that stated he would "use" what ever he wanted because he spends his money in our county...and we could not keep him off our private land with posters! This remark to him is from a previous post, and he knows it!

It is hard to believe that a report of an individual destroting someone elses property with malicious intent has gone to the bitter extremes of bashing that this has. The act was wrong, no matter where the property owner is from and no matter where the "operator" is from, period. Locals, we are losing our pants up here with the failing economy. One of the few constants is, and always has been, the tourism industry. Be it the ones that come in seasonally and grace our presence by staying in our local motels, or the semi-permanent transplants that have camps in the area, they all bring $$$$ to the area. I have lived in the city for many years and let me tell those of you that haven't, if this is all we have to worry about is "flatlanders" hitting our favorite watering holes and taking advantage of our local women, and occasionally getting that big buck that we have been watching all summer, then we are not in such bad shape. Lets face it, if they are getting the women that you can't, maybe you are doing something wrong, re-examine your approach. If they are getting the women that you already have, you are with the wrong woman, re-examine your relationship. If they are getting the deer that you have been watching all summer, get out there earlier or aim better. And if they are getting your goat, deal with it, they may be all that stands between your local watering hole's ability to stay open another year or closing like so many already have. Get a life people.
While I am on the subject, "flatlanders" don't look too far down your noses at the locals. We may not all be as "hick" as you think.
Everyone should give each other the courtesy that each individual person gives. Don't treat every local person poorly because you had a bad situation with one, and vise versa. I know many "flatlanders" that are truely great people and I know a few that I would rather not have ever met. The same can be said for the locals as well.
Damn it people, isn't there enough hate and contempt in the world without us adding to it needlesly and without justification?

"One of the few constants is, and always has been, the tourism industry."

You have to be joking? The economy is getting worse and it has already shown that people are camcelling vacations and traveling already.....the tourism instance is definitely not "constant". The tourism industry on beneifits a small amount of the population.....we need something that is beneficial to the majority of the people....

What the hell does that have to do with someone bulldozing a camp?
